v3.0.1
Latest
October 2026
IMPROVED
- Heading and Bodycopy without a dynamic tag no longer read the edited post content or sync the post id. Reading the content serialized the whole page after every change.
- The list of post types is fetched once for the whole editor instead of once per Heading, Bodycopy, Button, Image and Video block.
- The unique class check shares one cache across all block scripts.
FIXED
- Large pages froze the editor while loading. Every block that had no unique CSS class yet (for example pages built from patterns or imported content) wrote its class with its own store update, and each update made every block on the page run again. A page with about 800 blocks needed over a minute; it now loads in a few seconds. The classes are now written in one batched update, still without an undo step.
- The same per-block writes for the current post id (Button, Image and Video links and dynamic sources) are batched too.
v3.0.0
October 2026
NEW
- Added style search, an “Element parts” picker (Main, Link, Icon and their hover states) with a count of styles already set on each part, and a per-part Reset.
- Added Copy styles and Paste styles, including choosing which styles to paste, plus Copy selector.
- Added “Apply to all breakpoints”, and the panel now says which breakpoint you are editing (Mobile only, Tablet and up, Desktop and up).
- New Layout options for an element inside a flex or grid parent: order, grow, shrink, basis, align-self, justify-self, and grid column/row.
- New float and clear controls, and a box-sizing control on every block.
- Patterns: a new library of 207 section patterns in 19 categories, built only with AXB blocks — Top Bar (8), Header (10), Hero (16), Features (16), About (12), Stats (10), Process (10), Testimonials (14), Pricing (12), Tables (10), FAQ (10), Team (12), Logos (9), Video (9), Blog & Cards (12), Image & Gallery (12), Call to Action (12), Contact (6) and Footer (7). Every block inside a pattern has a clear List View name, and patterns insert as normal, fully editable blocks (no “Edit pattern” lock). They replace the old hero, testimonial, table, featured-post, CTA, Media and List patterns; pages that already use the old patterns are not affected. Headers use AXB links (no hamburger menu in Free): on tablet and mobile the links move to a second row that scrolls sideways.
- New pages: the “Choose a pattern” window that opens for a new page now offers the AxcelersBlocks patterns (Hero, Features and the other AXB categories) instead of the WordPress and theme starter patterns. Those stay available in the block inserter. Switch it off in Settings › Pages › Starter patterns.
- New Icon block: one icon from the library or your own SVG, with size, colour, box and hover styles per device. It can be a link (URL, email, phone or anchor). An unlinked icon without a label is hidden from screen readers; a linked icon is named by its ARIA label, link title or the library icon’s name.
- Button: new Button action panel to render a real <button> (Button, Submit or Reset type) with an optional ARIA label. The label can now come from a dynamic tag, separately from the link URL.</button>
- Links: new Heading, Bodycopy, Button, Box and Image links open in the same tab by default. Links saved before 3.0 keep their setting.
- Video: new source panel (Library, URL, Embed or Dynamic) with aspect ratio, poster and accessibility title. YouTube embeds now use privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) by default; turn it off per block if needed.
- List: new List style type control (disc, circle, square, decimal, leading zero, alpha, roman, or none).
- Table: added a table caption. Adding a row, cell or section now works on the selected container and keeps rows rectangular. Adding a column is a single undo step.
- Columns: added an HTML tag setting.
- New dynamic tag picker with a live preview, search, and a copyable tag code.
- New blocks start unstyled: block.json no longer stamps design defaults (colours, font sizes, padding, borders) on insert. Minimal structural CSS (Columns as a flex row, Button as inline-flex, List without bullets, responsive images, collapsed table borders) is applied with :where() so your own styles always win.
- New pages now start with the “AxcelersBlocks — Full Width” template (theme header, full-width content, theme footer), so AXB sections are no longer squeezed into the theme’s narrow content column. Existing pages are not changed. Turn it off, or turn it on for blog posts, in AxcelersBlocks › Settings › Pages.
- New settings screen with Getting Started (setup checklist and theme check), Devices, Pages and Agents tabs. Device widths work as before.
- Added suggested privacy policy text under Settings → Privacy → Policy Guide.
- New Agents tab (AxcelersBlocks → Agents): checks for the MCP Adapter, fills in a ready-to-paste client config for this site and user, and lists the registered abilities. Tested end to end over MCP with MCP Adapter 0.7.0: all nine abilities run, and bad input (unknown pattern, non-pixel width, non-hex colour) returns a clear error.
- Adds editor abilities (insert-blocks-into-editor, apply-style-patch, select-block) so markup can be dropped onto an open canvas in one undo step.
- New axcelersblocks_blocks_catalog and axcelersblocks_style_schema filters let addons describe their own blocks.
- New WP-CLI commands: wp axcelersblocks features, options, catalog and schema.
IMPROVED
- Redesigned the style panel into clear groups: Typography, Spacing, Sizing, Layout, Position, Borders, Background, Effects, and Image, with new icons and tooltips.
- Icons on Heading, Bodycopy, Button, List and List Item can now use full flex and grid layout controls.
- Rebuilt the Spacing, Border, Background, Effects, Position, Sizing and Typography controls with a new visual UI.
- Image: the block no longer picks up WordPress’s default 1em bottom margin for figures on the front end, so images sit exactly where the layout puts them. A margin set in the block’s Spacing control still applies.
- Heading and Bodycopy: a value of “0” (for example a stat) now displays instead of “(No content provided)”.
- Table: Icons, and Buttons with an icon, placed inside table cells now show their icon on the front end. The icon SVG was being removed when the table was printed.
- Video: a Video block that has a poster but no video link yet now shows the poster as a still image (no play button) instead of nothing, on the page and in the editor. The play button appears once a video is added.
- Editor: undo now works after inserting AXB blocks or patterns. Before, the editor’s automatic bookkeeping (unique class and current-post sync on Heading, Bodycopy, Button, Image and Video) was recorded as an edit and re-applied after every undo, so undo appeared to do nothing.
- Background video on Box, Column and Columns (Styles › Background › Video): a media-library file, an .mp4/.webm link, or a YouTube or Vimeo link. It plays muted behind the content, with a poster image, an overlay colour and opacity, Loop, and per-device Play on (off on mobile by default to save data). It loads only where it plays and only while on screen. Visitors who prefer reduced motion see the poster, and a pause button is shown by default (WCAG 2.2.2).
- Background › Layers: Video is now a layer type in the “Add layer” menu (Box, Column and Columns) instead of a separate Video section. The video row sits at the top of the layer list (it always plays above the image, gradient and overlay layers), and its controls use the layer editor: Source (library or YouTube / Vimeo / .mp4 link), Poster, Play on (Desktop / Tablet / Mobile cards), Overlay with opacity, and Loop / Pause button switches. Saved videos are unchanged.
- Editor: YouTube videos (Video block and background video) now preview as their thumbnail in the editor instead of YouTube’s “Error 153”. The editor canvas sends no referrer, which YouTube now requires; the front end plays the real video as before.
- Box: the whole box can now be a link (custom URL, email, phone, anchor, post permalink, author, term, post meta, term meta or ACF field), with new tab, title, ARIA label and nofollow/sponsored/ugc options.
- Button and Box links: choose the link kind (URL, Email, Phone or Anchor) and the mailto:, tel: or # prefix is added for you.
- Image: settings split into Image source (Library, URL or Dynamic), Alt text & caption, and Responsive images panels. Added a caption, a “Decorative image” option (outputs empty alt), and one “if the image is missing” choice (hide, placeholder, or fallback for dynamic images). The block’s own alt text is now used when set.
- Video: removed the link option. A link around a playable video is invalid HTML and could open the link instead of playing. Videos that had a link now render without it.
- Heading and Bodycopy: excerpt dynamic tags can now end with an ellipsis or nothing, and can keep or strip HTML. Excerpt length is no longer capped by WordPress’s 55-word default.
- Clickable Box: the link now sits inside the box as a covering layer instead of wrapping it, so buttons and links inside a card are no longer nested in another link. The card link is named after its first heading (or its ARIA label) for screen readers.
- Links that open in a new tab now tell screen-reader users “(opens in a new tab)”.
- Decorative icons in Heading, Bodycopy and Button are hidden from screen readers.
- Button: the editor warns when a button has an icon but no text or ARIA label, and the link title is used as its name when set.
- Faster editing on large pages: the unique CSS class check no longer scans every block on every keystroke, Columns no longer re-renders when other blocks change, device settings are fetched once (and preloaded) instead of once per block, and generated block CSS and SVG icons are cached.
- Full-width Box blocks now break out of the constrained editor canvas, matching the front end.
- Heading and Bodycopy now start with zero margin instead of the theme’s default heading/paragraph margin.
- Keyboard users get a visible focus ring on AXB buttons. Mouse clicks do not show the ring.
- Brand colours are read from WordPress Styles (Site Editor → Styles → Colors).
- Addons can add their own settings tabs with the axcelersblocks_settings_tabs filter and axcelersblocks_render_settings_tab action.
- Registers nine WordPress abilities so Claude Desktop, Cursor, or similar apps can read the block catalog, style schema, patterns, device widths and brand colours, and can insert a pattern or update device and brand settings when the WordPress user is allowed to. Subscribers, contributors and logged-out users cannot run write abilities.
- Requires the official MCP Adapter plugin and an Application Password. Everyday editing does not need this.
- Requires WordPress 6.9 or later.
- The uninstall routine now removes all plugin-owned options.
FIXED
- Fixed icons on Body Copy, Heading and Button not showing in the editor when saved as SVG only (from patterns, pasted markup or older content). The editor now uses the saved SVG first, then the library icon, then the custom SVG.
v2.1.5
NEW
- Added the axcelersblocks_is_plugin_block filter so official addons can opt their own block namespace into the shared render pipeline (Custom CSS, Interactions, ARIA label extras).
IMPROVED
- Tested up to WordPress 7.1.
- No block settings or defaults changed — existing content is unaffected.
FIXED
- Fixed the editor canvas sitting slightly narrower than the editor’s own resize handles in tablet and mobile previews. WordPress 7.1 sizes the preview from a resizable wrapper around the canvas rather than from the canvas itself, so the custom device widths from the AxcelersBlocks settings page are now applied to that wrapper. Older WordPress versions are unaffected.
v2.1.4
NEW
- Added pattern placeholder images so Hero, Media with Text, Testimonials, and Featured Post patterns no longer show broken images on insert.
- Added the Comments URL dynamic tag to the Bodycopy block, matching the Heading block.
- Added validation and admin notices for device width settings; invalid values now fall back to defaults and mobile width must stay smaller than tablet width.
IMPROVED
- Updated the minimum PHP requirement to 7.4 to match WordPress 7.0 and the plugin codebase.
- Sanitized table column width and background-color output in the Table block render callback.
- Synced the AxcelersBlocks style panel device switcher with WordPress’s native Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile preview buttons.
- Restricted SVG uploads to administrators while keeping SVG sanitization for inline rendering.
- Removed unused dynamic-content modal code and fixed React hooks usage in the editor.
v2.1.3
July 2026
IMPROVED
- Prefixed the global variables in the uninstall routine to follow WordPress coding standards. No functional change — existing content is unaffected.
v2.1.2
June 2026
NEW
- Added an uninstall routine that removes the plugin’s stored settings when the plugin is deleted (including on multisite).
IMPROVED
- Removed leftover debug console messages from the Background layer controls so the editor console stays clean.
- Custom SVG icons in the Heading and Bodycopy blocks are now sanitized in the editor preview, matching the Button block and the sanitized front-end output.
- Housekeeping: synced version metadata across plugin files. No block settings or defaults changed — existing content is unaffected.
v2.1.1
FIXED
- Fixed the block style controls (the AxcelersBlocks side panel) appearing unstyled in the editor on block themes. The inspector control styles were loaded as a block style asset, which only reaches the editor canvas iframe; they are now loaded with the editor assets so the side panel renders correctly for every block on all themes.
v2.1.0
NEW
- Added an AXB: List pattern category with three new patterns: Feature Checklist, Two-Column Checklist, and Numbered Steps.
- Added an AXB: Table pattern category with three new patterns: Pricing Comparison, Product Specs, and Schedule.
IMPROVED
- Updated the existing Hero, CTA, Media with Text, Featured Post, and Testimonials patterns so their layout spacing is written explicitly into the pattern markup, making inserted patterns independent of block default values.
- Block identity badges (Box, Column, Columns, Heading, Bodycopy, Button, Image, Video, List, List Item) now appear only while hovering that specific block, so the canvas stays clean. When blocks are nested, only the innermost hovered block shows its badge.
- Refined the block icons in the inserter with tighter artwork.
v2.0.0
June 2026
NEW
- Added a new AXB Video block: a semantic figure/video element with multiple sources, caption tracks, and a poster image, plus playback options (autoplay, loop, muted, controls, playsinline, preload), self-hosted and dynamic video sources, optional streaming-platform embeds (YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion) with WordPress oEmbed fallback, and the full AxcelersBlocks style controls.
- Added a complete link styling model to the Bodycopy, Heading, and Image blocks, letting you style the link across its default, hover, focus, and active states — typography, text and background color, border, border radius, spacing, display, and effects.
- Added focus and active interaction states to the Button block alongside the existing hover state across all style controls.
- Added dedicated icon-container styling (background, border, border radius, padding, margin, alignment) to the Bodycopy, Heading, and Button blocks.
- Added SVG element styling controls (sizing, positioning, display, and effects) for inline SVG icons.
- Added content styling controls and an Outline control to the relevant blocks.
- Added image priority loading: mark your largest above-the-fold image (the LCP) to load it eagerly with fetchpriority=”high”, plus an explicit loading control (lazy, eager, auto).
- Added link rel attributes (nofollow, sponsored, ugc) and a link title field for links across the relevant blocks.
- Added ARIA label support across blocks for improved accessibility.
- Added Blank and Full-Width page templates that work in both classic and block (FSE) themes, so you can build full-page layouts without theme chrome.
- Added support for ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) values as dynamic content sources.
- Added shared editor and frontend stylesheets for consistent styling across all blocks.
IMPROVED
- Expanded the Image block with flexbox and grid layout controls, dedicated image-element sizing (width, height, min, max, and border radius), and an optional empty-state placeholder.
- Switched the responsive system to mobile-first: device styles now use min-width media queries (base styles apply to mobile and scale up to tablet and desktop) instead of the previous desktop-first max-width approach. Content built with earlier versions keeps its blocks and settings, but because the cascade direction changed, its responsive (tablet/mobile) appearance should be reviewed and adjusted after updating.
- Rebuilt block CSS generation on a shared PHP engine with dedicated per-block render helpers for cleaner, more consistent editor and frontend output, and minified the generated inline CSS.
- Redesigned the Table block family: streamlined the table data model and added per-cell column span, row span, scope, and vertical alignment, configurable border spacing, and improved section, row, and cell structure handling.
- Your existing blocks update without block recovery — no block shows an “unexpected or invalid content” notice. Because the responsive system moved from desktop-first to mobile-first, the tablet/mobile appearance of content built with earlier versions may differ and should be reviewed and adjusted after updating; your content and settings are not deleted.
- The block-level hover styling previously available on the Bodycopy and Heading blocks has been replaced by the new link styling model; those blocks update safely, but any block-level hover styling set on them will no longer be applied.
FIXED
- Fixed the per-block responsive controls so they stay in sync with WordPress’s native Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile preview buttons in both directions, by reading WordPress’s current stable device-type API. Switching device in either place now updates the other and resizes the editor canvas to your configured breakpoints.
- Fixed responsive positioning so absolutely-positioned elements keep their intended per-breakpoint offsets after the move to the mobile-first system. Previously, a side (top/right/bottom/left) set only on a wider breakpoint could inherit a narrower breakpoint’s value, shifting or stretching positioned elements; each breakpoint’s position is now self-contained.
- Fixed the Columns block child synchronization so adding, removing, or duplicating columns from the block toolbar stays in sync with the column count, with reliable two-way updates that are no longer affected by editor timing issues.
v1.4.3
NEW
- Added a new UnitValueControl component that replaces plain text inputs with a smart unit-selector (px, em, rem, %, vw, vh, ch) across all style controls — Padding, Margin, Border, Border Radius, Box Shadow, Text Shadow, Filter, Transform, Icon Size, Flex, Grid, Position, Dimensions, and Typography.
- Added a dedicated editor script that serves as the single authority for the editor canvas preview width, reading tablet and mobile breakpoint values from the AxcelersBlocks settings page.
IMPROVED
- Improved the per-block ResponsiveControl so switching between Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile in the inspector stays in sync with WordPress’s own top-right preview device buttons, and vice versa.
- Improved DeviceContext to read device names and widths from the AxcelersBlocks settings REST API so responsive controls always reflect the configured breakpoints.
v1.4.2
IMPROVED
- Refined shared icon control internals for Bodycopy, Button, Heading, List, and List Item.
FIXED
- Fixed AXB Columns so changing the column count preserves existing inner column content instead of rebuilding sibling columns.
- Fixed the Columns control to stay in sync when columns are duplicated or removed from the block toolbar.
v1.4.1
IMPROVED
- Updated the SVG allowed elements.
v1.4.0
NEW
- Added new branded AxcelersBlocks block icons for every AXB block, using shared brand colors and sizing so the inserter, list view, and editor toolbar all match the plugin identity.
- Added dedicated block icons for the Table Cell, Table Row, and Table Section blocks.
- Added responsive image sources to the Image block, with per-device tablet and mobile overrides that render a semantic <picture> element with <source> breakpoints on the frontend.</picture>
- Added RGBA/transparency support to the Background Color control, including a swatch preview and an alpha-enabled color picker that saves hex or rgba() values automatically.
- Added separate Width and Height inputs to the Icon Size control, with a Link/Unlink toggle and Reset button; legacy single-value icon sizes continue to work.
- Added an image thumbnail preview (with media title) inside the Media controls so editors can see the selected image directly in the sidebar.
IMPROVED
- Improved transform effects by consolidating the style generator into shared JavaScript and PHP helpers, keeping editor previews, hover styles, and frontend output consistent and correctly emitting translate3d() when a Z-axis value is set.
- Improved Padding and Margin controls so toggling between the “All Sides” and “Vertical / Horizontal” modes seeds the newly active mode from the existing side values instead of clearing them.
- Improved spacing rendering in both the editor and frontend by back-filling missing linked or axial values from individual side values, so toggling modes or opening older content still applies the correct spacing.
- Improved the List block’s custom marker rendering to handle both legacy string and new object-based icon size values.
- Updated every block’s default transform attribute to include the full 3D value set (translateZ, rotateX, rotateY, rotateZ) alongside the existing 2D values.
FIXED
- Fixed the Transform control’s inherited-value handling so responsive cascades fall back to safe defaults and no longer produce undefined values.
v1.3.1
NEW
- Added SVG upload support to the Image block, plus an option to render uploaded or local SVG files inline instead of through an img tag.
- Added safer SVG sanitization for uploaded files and inline SVG rendering in the Image block.
IMPROVED
- Updated translation template strings for the new Image block SVG controls and validation messages.
v1.3.0
NEW
- Added Z-axis transform support for Translate and Rotate effects while keeping Skew on X and Y only.
IMPROVED
- Improved the AxcelersBlocks settings page icon so it renders with the plugin SVG and matches WordPress admin menu behavior more cleanly.
- Expanded icon controls with custom SVG upload/paste support, dedicated Icon and Icon Hover styling tabs, and better icon color handling.
- Improved icon hover behavior so hover CSS is only generated when hover values are explicitly set.
- Improved responsive controls to show inherited desktop and tablet values more clearly without generating unnecessary responsive CSS.
FIXED
- Fixed Bodycopy links to inherit the block text color instead of falling back to theme link colors.
v1.2.0
NEW
- Added AXB Table, Table Section, Table Row, and Table Cell blocks for semantic table layouts with header and footer support.
- Added hover style tabs, hover attributes, and frontend hover style output for Heading, Bodycopy, Box, Column, List, and List Item blocks.
- Added live editor previews for dynamic Heading and Bodycopy content, plus live dynamic image previews in the Image block.
- Added list style type controls and richer marker styling options for the AXB List block.
IMPROVED
- Improved AXB List Item rendering with per-item marker overrides and better ordered-list marker output.
- Improved shared hover effect handling, selector previews, and table block rendering for better WordPress.org Plugin Check compatibility.
FIXED
- Fixed Box additional CSS class names so custom classes entered in the editor render on the frontend.
- Fixed Columns block custom HTML tag output so the selected semantic tag is used on the frontend instead of always rendering a div.
- Fixed Button dynamic permalink handling when a specific post is selected as the dynamic source.
- Fixed Button SVG icon rendering by sanitizing the final output with a complete SVG allowlist.
- Fixed Bodycopy excerpt and term description rendering to avoid invalid nested paragraph markup on the frontend.
- Fixed nested block icon and SVG rendering inside container blocks, and improved frontend icon sizing for Heading and Bodycopy.
- Fixed Bodycopy icon-only output so it no longer falls back to the “No content provided” message.
v1.1.0
NEW
- Added AXB List block.
- Added AXB List Item block with nested list support.
- Added ordered and unordered list support.
- Added custom marker/icon support and list spacing controls.
IMPROVED
- Improved shared editor settings and extensibility.
- Improved Columns and Heading editor behavior.
v1.0.0
NEW
- Added the first 7 core blocks, which you combine to build almost any section of a page.
